Day 47 - 02/16/12

I think my favorite bird is the American goldfinch.  There's just something about the softness of their colors and their cute little faces.

I think this is the first time I've seen a purple finch at the feeder.  Seeing a new bird is always exciting for me, especially when it falls on the anniversary of my Dad's death.  I always take it as a sign from above that he is looking down on me.

Are you counting the birdies for the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend? We did our first count today and finally learned to tell the difference between a purple finch and a house finch!

All these birds are very 'tweet'. They all look so soft and friendly. Good catch.

Hello Laura,
Very wondrful shots of these beautiful birds. Great to see with the brightly blue sky. The bird with the yellow head and that red one are very special. It's always enjoy to see your photos.

Many greetings and have a good sunday,
Marco

They are indeed lovely little things. And I know what you mean about a message from your dad. The seagulls "speak" to me that way.

Superb captures, Laura - beautiful colors !

Loved your sunset too (looked better than a cruise ship would have). Sounds like you 'triumphed' over adversity too. That cruise ship belongs in the bone yard.
